Reflection #9: On Capitol Hill

Wonder why they felt the need to specify that Ben Carson is a “neurosurgeon-turned-politician”, and why an administration official arriving to his office on horseback is newsworthy.  I feel like that second point is an urban newspaper’s jab at rural politicians, fueling the urban vs. countryside rift that is prevalent in the U.S. right now. I also feel like this is the New York Times’s way of not-so-subtly undercutting the legitimacy of Trump’s administration–which I honestly don’t mind that much, but I wish they’d be more up-front about it.  If you’re going to throw some shade, throw it, but don’t hide behind the safety of shadowy obscurity.
